Speed and Weed - 100 Pounds of Pot Seized After High Speed Chase

Liberty County, Ga - Sunday proved to be anything but a routine day on Interstate 95 in Liberty County. A deputy attempted to pull over the driver of a mustang for speeding near mile marker 79 southbound, only for events soon after to spiral into an adrenaline-filled high-speed chase and with the eventual arrest of two men found in possession of drugs.

The driver of a Mustang triggered an intense chase down I-95, reaching speeds upwards of 130 miles per hour. Liberty County Sheriff's Office reported the wild ride extended into McIntosh county as law enforcement desperately pursued the fast and furious perpetrator.

As the high-speed car chase, involving multiple counties, ensued the driver made an unexpected U-turn on the interstate in McIntosh County. Deputies from Liberty and McIntosh Counties were hot on his heels as he sped away northbound.

The LCSO deputy utilized the PIT maneuver to bring this car chase to a screeching halt, at mile marker 68 resulting in the two men being apprehended by Liberty County Sheriff's Office. The deputies then found a trash bag containing around 100 pounds of cannabis and a firearm was also recovered.

Following the car accident, the passenger in the Mustang was treated for minor head trauma. Authorities have indicated that both individuals involved will face criminal charges, and more information will be available as its released.
