Charlotte, Nc - On the busy highways of Iredell County, a routine traffic stop by the Iredell County Sheriff's Office Interstate Criminal Enforcement Team uncovered a startling find.
On Tuesday, November 22nd, ICSO deputies intercepted a minivan cruising down Interstate 77, for breaking traffic laws, near the 61-mile marker.
Deputies noticed a strong smell of cannabis coming from the car and decided to bring in their canine, Connie to investigate the minivan further.
Connie was alerted to the odor of narcotics and when the deputies searched the vehicle they also could smell a strong odor of cannabis states Sheriff Darren Campbell, in a new release.
Upon inspection of the vehicle, the deputies found a large bag containing over $12,000 in cash near the passenger seat of the vehicle.
The large sum of cash and the strong odor of cannabis was more than enough to bring in the Sheriff’s Narcotics Task Force, which uncovered information leading them to a home in the Charlotte area.
This home is where Narcotic Task Force Agents and local law enforcement were able to confiscate over 19 pounds of cannabis packaged for distribution.
Homeland Security, ICSO and local PD are currently still investigating this case and no charges have been filed at this time.
