Written by: Chynna Jasmine Pearson

Summer is at its end. What a bummer! But that doesn’t mean we can’t still have some fun getting ready for the fall. Today, we’re going to dive into some strains that are perfect for the transition from summer to fall, you know, for when we all need a little pick me up. Some of us might deal with seasonal depression and are worried about how they’ll feel when summer is gone. Hopefully, these strains can help you through the tough times of anxiety or depression.

Amnesia Haze is a great strain to help melt your cares away. Like the name suggests, you might forget why you were upset altogether. This Sativa heavy strain is a good way to start your day off with a healthy dose of relaxation, with an energetic buzz to keep you going. Created from a mix of Afghani and Haze, Amnesia Haze is well balanced, and good for experienced users and newbies. Its earthy and lemony flavors make it a good strain for the last of the summer heat. If you’re feeling stressed and anxious, give this Sativa a try.

This is the strain you’ll want if you just need a solid chill session glued to the couch. Punch Pie is an Indica strain made from Purple Punch and Purple Kush that many users feel is perfect for relaxation after any activity. If this is the strain you want to try you should expect to feel couch lock but without the heaviness, Punch Pie still lets you feel floaty. It is also a fruity flavored strain with notes of candy, blueberries, and a hint of earthiness. If you’re a medical patient, choose this strain to help with depression, stress, and anxiety.

The Tutankhamon strain, a.k.a King Tut or Pharaoh, is a Sativa made for uplifting and energizing its users. While it may be a skunky, spicy flavored strain, people who have used it say it’s smoother than they expected. Its uplifting effects make it perfect for a wake and bake or simply enhancing your morning coffee. Some users say they choose this strain when they aren’t having the best day, perks them right up! If you’re a medical cannabis patient, choose this strain to relieve pain and symptoms of depression.

This Indica dominant strain is a mix of Mango and Afghani to create a sweet tasting strain that leaves its users happy, hungry, and relaxed. According to Leafly, Karibbean Mango “won 3rd Place Indica at the 2013 Copa Cannabica Axarquia en Velez Malaga, Spain.” Although the win was a decade ago, this strain still holds up and users always come back for more. Karibbean Mango pairs well with fruits so make yourself a smoothing and flame up a joint for peak relaxation. Also, if you’re looking for something to help with headaches, insomnia or lack of appetite, look for this strain in a dispensary near you!

Skywalker Haze is a Sativa dominant strain that is hard hitting, we’re talking about a strong punch. If you’re a newer cannabis user, try this out with caution. Although it is THC heavy strain, it still acts like a Sativa and makes you feel happy, creative, and energetic. Skywalker Haze has a very citrusy flavor with some spice on the back of it. Give this strain a try if you’re staying home to be creative or hanging out with friends! If you’re a medical patient that experiences depression, stress, and fatigue, this is a good strain to look for!

Brandywine is another Indica that will leave its users with a lighter, calming high instead of one that leaves you sleepy. Created by crossing Pink Champagne and Grandpa’s Breath, this strain has a string tea flavor with notes of hops and Chardonnay. If you choose to try this strain be ready to feel extremely physically relaxed but not too relaxed that you fall asleep with the lights on. Brandywine won 1st place in the 2017 Dope Awards in Seattle, WA, and it is still a quality Indica strain. If you’re a medical patient, try this strain to stimulate appetite, reduce stress, and relieve pain.

Although this strain’s name might evoke some frightening thoughts of the future, it is a great strain for relaxation and feeling happy. Hawaiian Snow was created by crossing Neville’s Haze, Pure Haze, and Hawaiian Haze into one super well done Sativa. While this strain might sound like it would be fruity and sweet, its main flavors are intensely spicy with only hints of eucalyptus and citrus. If you feel like this is the strain for you, be ready for a high THC strain that gives a stimulating cerebral high that will leave you giggling. For medical patients, choose this strain if you want relief from depression, stress, and social anxiety.

This strain is a balanced 50/50 hybrid created from GMO and Chem de La Sour. Yep, I bet you’ve already guessed it, but Petrol Station is a super gassy strain. It is also a rare strain so if you find it, give it a try! Petrol Station is high in THC so it's a great choice for experienced smokers, newbies can give it a try too, just be mindful of your doses. If you do find this strain expect to feel happy, relaxed, and creative. Its flavor is strong with heavy notes of a spicy musk, garlic, and mild floral notes as well. Although some users feel the floral notes are more forward than others. For medical patients, this strain is perfect for relieving chronic pain, stress, and anxiety.

This strain is iconic in the cannabis community, Alaskan Thunder F*ck (a.k.a ATF, Matanuska Thunder F*ck, or Matanuska Tundra) is a strong Sativa that only has legends about what it was created from. The legend says this strain began in Matanuska Valley that was crossed with a Northern California sativa and Russian Ruderalis. Then after some time that was crossed with Afghani to create what we now know as ATF. This strain is stinky with string scents of pine, lemon, and skunk. If you’re thinking of giving this a try, be wary of its delayed effects, it's a strong euphoric high but it's not immediate. If you’re a medical patient, this strain is great for pain and stress relief.
