Brewster County, Texas - Early Friday Morning, the Brewster County Sheriff's Office seized nearly a ton of pot. Officials seized 1,886 pounds of marijuana according to their Facebook page. This case is still under investigation.

The Brewster County Sheriff's office, Homeland Security Investigations, US Border Patrol and the Texas Department of Public Safety conducted an extensive investigation that resulted in the largest marijuana bust ever seen in Brewster. Over a half-ton of marijuana and other illegal drugs were seized from a single location, serving as proof of just how serious the drug trade has become in the area.

In 2019 Brewster County Sheriffs' office seized 1100 pounds of marijuana in an abandoned SUV being driven on highway 90. They were able to track down the perpetrator because he left his wallet inside the vehicle.

Brewster County is the largest county in Texas, encompassing a whopping 6,192 square miles of the state's Trans-Pecos area. Located just southwest of Midland and Odessa, Brewster County is larger than Delaware, Rhode Island, and 500 square miles of Connecticut combined. Its only city - Alpine - serves as the county seat and the total population of Brewster county is 9,546 according to the 2020 census.
